function meets form.
In her ceramic work, Gentry Leach explores the boundaries between function and form, creating objects that invite curiosity and interaction. By blending wheel-throwing, hand-building, and sculptural techniques, she crafts pieces that encourage viewers and users alike to engage with the symbolic nature of shape, surface, and concept. Each work becomes a tactile conversation between utility and imagination - an exploration of how form can both serve and speak.

Gentry Leach Creative Statement
Gentry Leach is a multidisciplinary artist who received her B.F.A. in Studio Arts from The University of Oklahoma in May 2022. Working through the lens of painting, ceramics, and experimental film photography, she believes the creative voice should know no limits.
After spending a year abroad in Europe, she began to approach her relationship with mediums through the lens of speaking different languages. By harnessing the ability to express a multitude of ideas through a diverse array of languages, one is better equipped to bridge cultural gaps through dynamic conversations around the globe. Like language, utilizing an abundance of mediums allows the creative spirit to engage in diversified conceptual and material conversations.
Holistically, her work is a meditation on the sacred within the self and the natural world. The audience is invited to investigate the push and pull of formal elements, creating a visual narrative that encourages a deeper understanding of the concepts explored. Specifically, within her ceramic work, Gentry creates pieces that challenge the narrative of functionality through her conceptual forms and surface imagery.
Gentry holds the belief that artistic expression has no borders and is inherently more powerful when shared. Ultimately, she hopes her artwork will inspire people to give voice to their unique creative spirit, as she believes creativity is the foundational essence of our collective belonging to the world - and has the power to heal.
